GERMAN’S SPEECH SEVERE NEWSPAPER COMMENT. (A. & N.Z.) PARFIS, Aug. 12. Herr Kardoff’s speech in the Reich- ■ stag caused excitement here. Le Journal des Debats says: “It is more venomous and more full of nate than any from Germany for a long time, besides being full of misstatements. From such a speech we must conclude that Germany aims at the Absorption of Austria, the repudiation of the Dawes plan, and the recovery of Al-sace-Lorraine.”
Le Temps declares: “The speech shows that a lot is to be done befoie disarmament is a reality. The speechoriginates in a rpirit against which rea-' son is powerles.” Speaking in the Reichstag recently, Herr Kardoff declared that Dr. Ebert and Marshal von Hindenburg were the saviours of Germany, which as a Republic alone could lead in freedom and peace. In the meanwhile they would proceed on their sorrowful path until the Rhine was free. Germany was heavily manacled by the Versailles Treaty, but would take an equal place among tho nations, to which she was entitled.
