At Forest Hills in the women’s contest for the Wightman Cup Betty Nuthall defeated Hole Jacobs (California), 6—3, 2—6, 6—l. Helen Wills defeated Mrs Godfrey, 6—l, 6—l. By defeating Joan Fry, 6—2, 11—9, Miss Mallory retained the Cup for the United States. Miss Helen Wills and Mrs HotchkissWightman defeated Mrs Godfrey and Miss Harvey in the doubles, 6—4, 4—6, 6—3. TILDEN THE WINNER INVITATION TOURNEY FINAL Received Aug. 14, 5.5 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) NEW YORK. Aug. 14. At Southampton Tilden defeated Lott 6—2, 7—5, 6—2, in the final of the Meadows Club invitation tourney.
