A MURDER MYSTERY
THREE BODIES FOUND Killer Shoots Two Students, Then Murders Accomplice MONEY WAS THE OBJECT. (By Teiesraph—Per Press Assn.—Copyright.) Received August 12, 7.35 p.m. (Sun Cable). PARIS, Aug. 11. A mystery is engaging the best detectives in- France. The bodies of three young men were found scattered in a field adjoining Paris. One was shot thrice in the skull, another was shot five times, and the third was lying some distance from, the others. It is thus far ascertained that two Czeeho-Slovakian students recently arrived in Paris with a considerable sum of money. It is believed an acquaintance lured them to the field with the aid of an accomplice and murdered them. The police believe the murderers revisited the field and quarrelled, one being slain, and this accounts for the third body found being further removed from the others. The survivor, it is thought, obtained possession of the dead man’s luggage from a Paris hotel and decamped. MURDER MYSTERY
MONEYLENDER’S DEATH NO TRACE OF ASSAILANT (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, Aug. 12. There is no trace of the murderer of Condon, the money-lender who was found dead in his office, though the police hold the description given by a man who saw a person leaving the office. This witness knocked repeatedly at the office door and received no answer. Eventually the man, presumed to be the murderer, came out. In reply to a question he said that Condon was inside and then rushed away. Witness again tried to gain admission and called the police. The door was broken open and Condon was found with a towel round his neck. Apparently the murderer had tried to strangle him before the fatal blows in the head were inflicted. The only indication of the crime which two girls in an adjacent, office heard was the furniture being knocked about, but there were no sounds of a quarrel or cries. Condon did a large lending business among the civil service. A NEW THEORY DOCUMENTS STOLEN MURDERER WAS A DEBTOR Received Aug. 12, 10 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, Aug. 12. The police state they are now confident that robbery of money was not the motive in the murder of Condon, but that the crime was committed v>y someone in the moncy-lenaer’s debt It is believed that Condon, who had a habit of sitting with his feet on his desk and sleeping in his chair, was attacked by the murderer when in this position. This theory is strengthened by the fact that records of recent large transactions disappeared from the office. It has been established that deceased was alive at 1.15 p.m. and the body was not found until two o’clock, giving the murderer plenty bf time to search for the documents which were the object of his visit.
