WANGANUI AND PATEA RETURN MATCH PLAYED During the week-end a strong team from Patea played the annual return match with a team from the Wanganui Club, captained by Mr F. I. Jones. To be right up to date, instead of the customary four ball match, a foursome was played in the morning and a pairs match in the afternoon. Wanganui had their revenge for the heavy defeat inflicted by Patea on June 3, winning the foursomes by 7 games to 2 and the pairs by 14 sanies to 7. A feature of the game the ‘honours were reversed in nearly every case where the same opponents 1 met in tho return match. The detailed results were as follows. Wanganui players being mentioned first:— Foursomes Cunningham and Williams won from Wybourne and Findley Swanger and Poynter won from Rook and Hunger Rowe and Steeds won from Wills and Fraser. Brodie and Gordon lost to Fraser and Torrens Armstrong and Skeet lost to Gilbert and Ray Stewart and Brown won fom Pettigrew and Jenkins Swan and McKay won from Hamel and Harris Hill and Jones won from Jones and Roberts Foster and Meuli halved with Honeyfield and Meharry Grummitt and Turnbull won from Glenny and Findlay. Pairs W. H. Cunningham won from R. D. Wybourne E. J. Williams won from Findlay W. H. Swanger won from Rook. E. H. Poynter lost to Hunger J. B. Rowe lost to Wills A. H. Steeds ost to D. Fraser. A. D.
