SWANKERS’ CLUB

EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of the executive of the Wanganui Swankers’ Club was held on Friday evening, Bro. J. G. Swan presiding; also present: “Bros. Hillgrove, Copeland, Brighton, Firth, Gould and Newrick. Apologies for absence were received from Bros. Cunningham, Bonner ind Dunn. The secretary reported that 13 orders for groceries, etc., had been issued to applicants since June 4. Some of the applicants were in extremely poor circumstances. In addition, several parcels of clothing had been issued . It was decided to hold the first euchre party and dance of the season on Thursday, June 30, and arrangements were left in the hands of the entertainment committee. Accounts amounting to £37 14s 2d were passed for payment. It was reported that several parcels of clothing had been received during the last fortnight and the club extends thanks to the various donors, most of whom were anonymous.
