SALVATION ARMY

A LINER CHARTERED SEVEN HUNDRED MIGRANTS FOB AUSTRALIA. Received June 15. 8 p.m. (A. and N.Z.) LONDON, June 15. The Salvation Army has chartered the White Star liner Vedic, of 15,000 tons, for the purpose of transporting 70UU migrants to Australia from Liverpool in October, including 200 youths trained at Hadleigh farm and 400 domestics. The remainder are all married and have been guaranteed employment. Commissioner Lamb, speaking at a luncheon, announced that if the experiment were successful, other ships would follow, conditkmal upon employment being secured beforehand.
