MANY MISDEEDS

THE ESCAPADES OF LIND BREACHES OF PROBATION The misdeeds of Frederick Lind have been told during the week in the Wanganui Police Court. The result of the tolling was that Lind—already well-known to the police—appeared yesterday morning at the Court to hear what his punishment would be. He heard. It is now not improbable that Lind, whose appearances do not indicate his actions, will greatly mend his ways in the future. Left His Family Up in Auckland, Lind left his wife .and family —he had failed to maintain them. He came to Wanganui with another woman, who was being supported by him, and was found guilty of being drunk while in charge.of a car. He was also charged with a breach of probation. Yesterday morning it transpired that Lind was anxious to return to his wife and family. Mr J. 8. Barton, S.M., stated that the .accused had already been sentenced for breach of probation and had failed to pay damages. He was, furthermore, living with another woman, and was not supporting his wife. A person who repeatedly smacked the terms of his probation in the face should be made to feel the other side, declared the Magistrate. For the breach of probation, Lind was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour, and for being drunk while in charge of a car, he was fined £25, in default three months’ imprisonment. In the matter of the use of motor cars, Mr Barton declared that Lind had no conscience and no sense of the rights of other people. He would bo debarred for five years from holding a license to drive.
