Canaries 119 Root Crops, Vegetables, etc. 226 Home Industries 159 Butter 19 Toy Dogs 52 Boys and Giris’ Agricultural Clubs 75 The axemen’s events are yet in a somewhat undecided state and may have to be dropped, but in this connection there is a likelihood of a world’s championship underhand chop. A. Murrell, champion of Queensland, visited the secretary last week-end, and lodged a challenge to chop A. B. Gibbs, of Murchison, the present world’s champion underhand chopper, offering to meet him at Wanganui foi* a suitable purse for the best two out of three chops of 16in. blocks. Negotiations arc under way and Gibbs’ acceptance is now being waited for. It was unanimously decided that in view of the amount of unemployment, work available bo given as far as possible to married men with families, at present unemployed. There is a large waiting list and the sub-committees appointed will allot the positions to those who are more or less connected with the Association and are in need of what assistance is available..
Chief stewards appointed were:— Poultry, Mr F. W. Wilson; pigeons, Air J. P. Mailman; canaries, Mr W. Upton; root crops, Mr G. Smith; home industries, Miss B. Shewan.
Space inside is practically filled up, and will consist of one of the finest exhibitions of its kind shown in Wanganui. The usual amusement park is lilling up rapidly and the plan shows excellent lettings.
