WORK IN THE SCHOOLS INTERESTING RESOLUTIONS. 'Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 14. Some important resolutions regarding io teaching of civics end internationalm were adopted by the Council of ducation at its meeting last week. With reference to civic training it as resolved that the Council consid■s that every opportunity should bo iken in the schools to promote ideals ? social service. Tho Council being impressed with le paramount need for educative work i the direction of international knowdge as an indispensable preliminary ir international goodwill and service, jeommends the Department to utilise ore fully tho School Journal and Eduition Gazette for the purposes of familiarising schools with the organisaon and activities of the League of Naons and the ideals of union. Pleasure was expressed at tho increas. ng support being accorded to the Boy cout and Girl Guidos movements, and he Council approved the growing apreciation of tho cultural value of lusic. A resolution was passed urging tho •epartment to require teachers to give istruction in swimming at all schools here reasonable facilities exist.
