HEAVY DAMAGE A M FiT t ßOu RN H BLAZE t A. t N.Z.) MELBOURNE, June 11. A fire in the store of Howard Smith and Co., shipowners, at North Wharf Road, caused damage estimated at £lO,OOO. Two employees discovered the fire early but were unable to raise the local telephone exchange to notify the fire brigade for 15 minutes. Meantime the fire gained a strong bold.
