DAIRY PRODUCE PRICESS CABLED REPORTS FROM LONDON. [ Special “ Chronicle ” Service. ] AUCKLAND, June 10. The markets for New Zealand butter and cheese arc weaker, according to private cabled advice received in Auck■Land from London to-day. The decline in the price of butter is four shillings per cwt., compared with the rates current 10 days ago, and the price of cheese has fallen by from four shillings to six shillings per cwt. on the same comparison. According to the report, buyers have withdrawn, resenting the policy of the Dairy Control Board in withholding stocks. A local firm has received the following cablegram from London, dated yesterday: “The butter market is quiet. Finest New Zealand butter is selling at 162 s to 164 s per cwt., Danish 1665, finest Australian salted 162 s to 1645, and finest Australian unsalted 1665. The cheese market is dull. New Zealand coloured is selling at 83s to 85s, New Zealand white 82s to 84s, and Canadian C.I.F. 84s to 855.” FIRMING UP STATEMENT BY ME GROUNDS. Mr W. Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Produce Board, declined to comment on the statement that the dairy market was weak because the buyers had withdrawn, resenting the tactics of the Board in withholding stocks. “We know the market for both butter and cheese has weakened during the past week” Mr Grounds said. “How- : ever, I have received advice to-night I that both markets are now firming, after the weakening tendency.”
