WATERSIDE DISPUTE

QUESTION OF OVERTIME BORT AUCKLAND AT GISBORNE [Per Press Association.] GISBORNE, June 10. The watersiders have refused to work the cargo of tho steamer Port Auckland. A call made yestendjay was not responded to, and two later calls were made this morning with a similar result. The watersiders’ representatives have decided to attend a meeting of tho Disputes Committee. Officially the agents of the Port Auckland have received no notification of the terms on which the watersiders have refused engagement. It is understood the men are aggrieved at not having been paid for two hours’ extra time when they landed on Wednesdiay evening when the vessel proceeded! to sea owing to stress of weather.

The watersiders’ secretary, when interviewed, declined to discuss the position.
