GENERAL NEWS, [ Special “ Chronicle ” Service. ] A meeting of the Anglican Vestrymen was held this week to discuss | ways and* means of providing electric heaters for the Church and Guild room. The Rev. Langston and Mr H. N. Waymouth were appointed to make enquiries, and if the cost is reasonable heaters are to be installed. At the conclusion of the meeting a vote of condolence was passed to Mr L. Weston on his recent bereavement. GOLF. Although arrangements were made for a ladies’ golf competition on Wednesday afternoon, {he weather was so unfavourable that thc match was postponed. An invitation to visit Taihape on the 26th inst. has been re-' ceived. A meeting of the committee of the Bulb Show was held on Thursday to draw up thc schedules for the show. The public have liberally .donated prizes, and there is every possibility of a record show this year. Mr Davy left for Hamilton this week. Mr and Mrs W. Roache (Kawhatau), have returned from Auckland. Mr Currie has returned from Auckland. Mr and Mrs J. Glonn of Wanganui are visiting Mangaweka for a few days. A burglary was committed on Thursday night. Entrance was made by a back window to the grocery shop owned by Mr W. G. Carruthers. A la*rgc quantity of tobacco was stolen, also thc cash box.
