THE CHANGE

FAMOUS CATHEDRAL A BOLSHEVIK MUSEUM. COPENHAGEN, May 30. A message from Leningrad, in a reference to the Bolsheviks’ anti-religious campaign, states that the most famous of all Russian cathedrals, the Cathedral of St. Isaac, at Leningrad, which all religious Russians esteem as their greatest church, was closed to-day, in compliance with an order from the authorities.

The cathedral, it is stated, is to be transformed into a museum.

St. Isaac’s Cathedral was built between 1819 and 1858 of granite and marble, with a lavish disregard of cost. It is in the form of a cross and is tho largest church in Leningrad, being 364 feet long and 315 feet wide, and rising above it is an enormous gilded dome, visible at a great distance.
