A SLIGHT MISTAKE
STRANGE BURIAL CASE WRONG FUNERAL ATTENDED A strange case of the burial of one infant in the name of another, and the attendance of the wrong mother at the funeral, is reported from Middlesbrough. Robert Foster, aged 26 days, died suddenly, and the body was removed to the public mortuary for a post-mor-tem examination. About the same time Margaret Dalton, age 21 months, died of diphtheria, and tho body was removed to the mortuary at the sanatorium. Instructions to the undertaker were misinterpreted, and tho body of the Foster baby was buried in the name of Dalton, the parents of the latter child following it to the grave. In the meantime, Mrs Foster was urging the undertaker to bring back her baby’s body from the mortuary so that she might see it for the last time. When the undertaker responded to her appeal he discovered the mistake. Both mothers were stritkfjn •with grief when the situation was explained to them. The two coffins are now resting in the same grave.
