GARRISON BAND
WINTER CONCERTS. An appreciative audience gathered last evening at His Majesty’s Theatre, when the Wanganui Garrison Band gave tho first of a series of winter concerts. Numerous items were rendered by the band in convincing and pleasing style/ and the musical programme proved to be of an attractive order. Mr J. Watson, conductor of the band, who leaves Wanganui this week on a holiday visit to Australia, gave an excellent cornet solo with band accompaniment. While tho band items met with an excellent reception, the assisting artists also were very warmly received and their talent was immediately recognised. Those who contributed to an enjoyable programme were Mr Hubert Carter, tenor; Mr Albert Westhead, violinist; Miss Marjorie Allomos, contralto; Mr V. H. Reid, and Mrs G. Perrctt, L.T.C.L., soprano.
