GENERAL NEWS [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] The insurance on the buildings occupied by Mrs McLaughlan, Low Hing, and A. Miliar, andf owned by Mr J. Williams, was £l2OO in the Sun Office. Mr Millar’s stock was insured for £2lOO in the Victoria and Royal, but he had nothing on the furinture. Mrs McLaughlan *s was £250 on the stock and plant in the Yorkshire. Low Hing had no insurance. The Ohutu Social Club held a euchre party in the Ohutu Hall on Friday evening, whfn the ladies’ prize went to Miss C. Neagle and the men s to Mr W. Thurston. The consolation prizes went to Mrs Thurston and Mr A. Clinton. The attendance was good, as usual . The prizes were donate,! by the club. The weekly euchre party under the direction of the Church of England was held on Friday evening in the parish hall. The ladies’ prize was won by Mrs F. Hamill after a play-off with Mrs Vincent, and the men's by Mr F. McSweeney. The “boobies” went to Mrs Wiltshire and Mr 8. Fleet. The attendance was above the average and a most enjoyable evening was spent by all present. HOCKEY RESULTS Ladies matches resulted:—Pakeha 3 Aorangi nil. Huias 2, Old Girls one. Men’s matches: —Pakeha 8, Y.M.C. 2. The Y.M.C. have beaten the Pakehas by a narrow margin on the last two occasions, but on Thursday the latter made no mistake about it from start to finish. The referees were Messrs Reid and Saunders. SATURDAY'S FOOTBALL Pirates and Hautapu drew. Hautapu had best of the game. Old Boys 27 beat Pirates nil. Old Boys 9 beat Huia 5. Pirates 10 beat Hautapu 6. Juniors: Mangaweku 8 beat Hautapu 3; Railway won by default. The representative team to meet Bangitikei on Wednesday is as follows: Loughnan. Butler, Leahy, Fernie, Ormond, Kilkolly, Horton, E. Sinclair, Riley, Goer, Bellis, Hall, W. McLennan. W. Collier, Harrington; emergencies, Smith, Mair, Sinclair, Monro, Bennett, McDonell.
