FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

ENGLAND NOW FREE. FIRST TIME SINCE 1925. ‘ LONDON, April 28. The Minister of Agriculture has announced that all the remaining general restrictions imposed by tho Ministry in connection with outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease have now been removed, no outbreaks of that disease having occurred in any part of Great Britain since March 7, when a case occurred in Staffordshire. The last occasion on which the country was entirely free from movement restrictions imposed on account of this disease was September 20, 1925, but the period of freedom lasted for five days only. The number of outbreaks during the first quarter of the current year is 21 as against 59 for the corresponding period of 1926.
