USE IN AMERICA DOCTORS’ OPINIONS. Received Mav 19, 11 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) NEW YORK, May 19. The American Medical Association adopted a resolution to the effect thus physicians should be empowered to pre scribe such amounts of alcoholic liquor for patients as cases require. The Association recommended the abandonment of the existing system, which physicians are allowed to prescribe only a small fixed quantity, and also advocated the withdrawal of alleged non-alcoholic drinks sold as medicine, which are actually intoxicating and are consumed in tremendous quantities as beverages.
