FATAL AIR SMASH

’PLANES TOUCHED SENSATION AT WELCOME TO DUCHESS. Received May 19, 11 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) MELBOURNE, May 19. At the inquest into the air smash, the evidence showed that the machines were giving the salute to the Duke and Duchess of oYrk by dipping, when one touched the other. Both machines were trustworthy, having been thoroughly inspected on the morning of the flight. An Air Force officer stated since the tragedy that arrangements had been completed for the equipment of every machine with parachutes. A verdict was returned of accidental death, the coroner making no comment.
