IN FRENCH TOWNS. As a result of a French law in 1924. obliging all towns of more than 10.000 population to subject their growth to a system of town planning, tho suburbs of T’aris probably will bo divided into zones according as industrial, commercial or residential buildings are allowed to predominate. Paris itself has developed without such control and it is regarded as impracticable to apply the new ruling to the older quarters. Town planning is a post-war development in France, the first actual zoning regulations to be applied in the country being those of Strasbourg, which were enacted under the German regime there and taken over by France along with other laws and institutions prevailing in Alsace and Lorraine.
