GIRLS OUT OF WORK

TURNING TO HOUSE SERVICE A SIGN OF THE TIMES. (Special to “Chronicle.”) AUCKLAND, May 11. “Stop sending servants out to my place,” sai t d a Remuera resident over the telephone this morning. As a result of advertising for a domestic servant, 28 applicants visited his house yesterday amd' over a hundred rang him up on the telephone. The applicants included a number of typists and shopgirls, this being an indication that work in certain avenues was scarce, or else that homely house duties were becoming more popular.
