TAIHAPE CATTLE FAIR The Associated Auctioneers’ report on the Taihape Cattle Fair held on Wednesday is as follows:—We yarded 1750 head of well-bred, good conditioned, cattle of all classes. There was a good attendance of buyers including clients from the Waikato and Taranaki districts, and competition for all stock was keen, practically every line changing hands at satisfactory prices. In nearly every case vendors were prepared to meet the market and the prices realised were on a par with late sales.—We quote:—Fat anid. forward bullocks £7 to £7 10s, forward bullocks £6 to £6 12s 6d, 24-ycar steer*, £5 4s to £5 18s, 20-months steers £3 18s to £4 4s, wcaner steers £2 to £2 15s, good fat cows £4 17s to £5 ss, light fat cows £3 17s to £4 10s, fat heifers £3 15s to £4 19s, empty forward cows £3 2s 6d to £4, empty heifers £2 5s to £3 16s, store epws 33s to £2 Ils, weaner heifers 34s to £2, m.s. wcaners J 7s to 38s, cows and calves £3 15s to £4 3s, cows r.w.b. £2 7s 6d to £2 Ils. JOHNSONVILLE SALE Messrs Abraham and Williams, and Wright, Stephenson anjfl Co., Ltd., report on the Johnsonville sale held on Wednesday as follows:—A very good yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward, also a good lot of lambs. Quality was good throughout ,and a very good sale resulted at prices in excess of previous week’s quotations. Wo quote: Bullocks £lO 17s 6s, £ll to £.13 ss, vcalers £2 15s, £3 to£4 Is, heifers £5 10s to £6 15s, cows £4 10s to £5 10s, wethers 24s 7d, 24s lOd, 25s 6d to 26s lOd, ewes 16s lOd to 17s 7d, lambs 22s 4d, 235, 24s 5d to 25s 3d, light 20s 6d to 225. CLEARING SALE OF JERSEY STOCK On Wednesday, Messrs Wright, Stephenson and, Co., Ltd., with New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., conducted a sale at Glen Oroua for Mr H. J. Lancaster. The offering comprised some very nice pedigree Jersey heifers and cows. There was a goad, attendance although competition was not very keen and bidding was slow. The grade heifers were a nice lot and some well forward made up to £ll 10s. About 30 were passed in at auction, but were later sold at satisactory prices. Lot 17, “Brooklyn Noble Dina,” cow, 8 guineas. Bulls: Lot 19, 184 gns; Lot 20, aged bull, 13 gns; Lot 21, 25gns; Lot 22, 25gns; Lot 23, 27gns; Lot 24, 16gns; grade heifers, just calved, £8; 2nd cal-

vers, £B, £lO 10s, £ll 10s; 3-ycar-old heifers, £ll 10s; grade 2-year-olds from £7, £7 10s, £B, £8 10s, £9, £9 15s, £lu 5s to £ll 10s. THE FEILDING SALE At the Feilding stock sale to-day 7000 sheep were yarded, including many good quality lines, but the bulk was fair to inferior. The tone of the sale was bright, with keen competition, amd prices were about on a par with late rates. Fat ewes in good demand sold at an advance, fat lambs b.f. 16s 8d to 21s Id, fat ewes 13s 8d to 17s, fat wethers 20s to 265, four and five-year ewes r.w. S.D. rams 16s 5d to 275, wether lambs 15s to 16s Bd, e?|e hoggets 16s 6d> to 20s 7d, m.a. ewes 12s 3d to 15s, b.f. lambs 15s to 16s, two-tooth wether 18s 6d to 19s Id.

The cattle yarded are of medium quality. Bidding was slack for nearly all classes. Dairy stock were, hard to quit except for those close to profit. Fat cattle solid at late rates. Prime heavyweight bullocks fetched £lO Is to £lO 15s, prime fat heifers £6, fat cows £3 to £4 10s, f.f. five-year P.A. bullocks £7 ss, aged m.c. bullocks £5 13s, aged' P.A. cows r.w.b. a bull, £3 13s; best Jersey weaner heifers £3 7s, medium ditto £2 to £2 15s, best springing Jersey cows £9 17s 6d to £lO 5s ditto heifers £8 10s to £9 15s.
