Her general merchandise will be discharged at Dunedin, Lyttelton and WeihngtoThe Athenic. which sailed, from Liverpool on April 23, will discharge in Australia and then come to New Zealand in ,July to loa for England. The Matakana is also to come to New Zealand from Australia in July to load for England. The lonic, with cargo from London, is to leave Southampton on May 20. She is due at Wellington on June 27 to d.sembark passengers. Afterwards she will unload at Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Bluff. . . The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Auckland is due to arrive at Auckland from New Plymouth on May 30 to load for London. Thence she is to go to 1 okomaru Bav. Gisborne and Wellington to nil up, sailing finally from the last named port on The steamer Antonio (5225 tons) is due to arrive at Auckland with case oil from Texas about May 31. The Antonio was built in 1913. and was formerly the Western, first known as the War Fijian. She is now owned by the New Egypt and Levant Shipping Co. Official .statistics which have lately been published in America confirm the generally accepted belief that the tramp is to a large, extent being replaced by the cargo liner. Ln this development the motor ship has played a prominent part, for practically the whole of the motor cargo tonnage built during the past four or five years has been represented by ships intended to maintain a regular service to schedule.
