THE INFORMAL VOTES

WHY THERE WERE SO MANY COUNCILLOR SEEKS REPORT The question of informal votes was brought up at last evening’s meeting of the City Council by Councillor C. H. Burnett. He considered that a return should be compiled, not merely for the Council, but in case some future municipal conference should desire to go thoroughly into the matter. A very interesting report had been supplied by the Christchurch Returning Officer, and the Wellington City Council was making enquiries. The Mayor (Mr Hope Gibbons): If you are going to have these everlasting reports it will put up your bill of costs. The matter was held over.
