DAIRY CONTROL

MEETING AT PAHIATUA REPEAL OF COMPULSION FAVOURED [Per Press Association.] PAHIATUA, April 26. A meeting of business men and farmers was held this afternoon, the Mayor presiding. Addresses were delivered by Messrs E. J. McEwen (Wellington) and D. Caselburg (Masterton). It was resolved that all the compulsory clauses of control should be repealed as soon as possible and all dairy factories should have the right to dispose of their products to the best ad.vantage of all concerned. An amendment appreciating the speakers for their explanation of the position but reserving decision till they heard from Mr Grounds, chairman of the control Board, was lost by 48 votes to 35.

MR HOLLAND’S CRITICISM ADDRESS AT NEW PLYMOUTH [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, April 27. Mr H. E. Holland, Labour leader, last night addressed a large meeting. The address was on the same lines as that given at Pahiatua, with special mention to dairy control. Mr Holland blamed the Government for the failure and advocated an arrangement between the Board and the British co-operative distributing organisations.
