AT NEW PLYMOUTH EASTER TOURNEY [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, April 17. Glorious weather characterised the opening day of the New Plymouth golf tourney. The following Wanganui players qualified in the Taranaki championship: Harold 164, Beaven 166, MeNiven 169. Ching (New Plymouth) headed the list with 80, 82—162. England (Seafield), Christie and Murchie (Belmont) qualified in the second sixteen, Waiwakaiho handicap and the first medal handicap. The first medal handicap was won by England 87—16, 71. In the second medal handicap Smart (Seafield) was second, with 93 —18, 75. CHRISTCHURCH TOURNEY AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 17. The opening day of the Christchurch Golf Club’s Easter tournament was favoured with perfect weather. The amateur championship of Canterbury, two rounds stroke play, was won by C. A. Seymour 77—79 —156. Two handicaps were played concurrently with the championship rounds. In the morning Baxter (Timaru) won 83—17—66, and in the afternoon E. J. Humphrey won 76—1—‘(2.
