A BROKEN JAW
CLAIM AGAINST DENTIST VERDICT FOR DEFENDANT. (Per Press Association.) ‘WELLINGTON, March 10. The hearing of the claim of William George Collins for £607 from Dr. Herbert Chafles Faulke, on grounds of defendant’s alleged negligence in the extraction of a tooth, thereby breaking plaintiff’s jaw and causing septic poisoning, was concluded to-day in the Supreme Court before Mr Justic MacGregor. , His Honour found that the doctor had not been negligent, but that plaintiff was himself negligent in not following out defendant’s 'instructions. Although unusual, the breaking of a jaw was always liable to accompany the extraction of teeth. Sepsis, his Honour said, was in the tooth and jaw at the time of extraction..
The verdict was for defendant, who did not press for the costs of the action.
