JMr and Mrs J. Delves have returned to Wanganui from Australia.
Messrs. Hope Gibbons, W. A. Veitch, M.P., W. S. Glenn, M.P., H J. Dickie, M.P., and the Hon. E. Newman were among the representatives of this district at the Government luncheon to the Duke and Duchess of York at Wellington on Tuesday.
The death of three valued members and supporters, Messrs W. S e Dustin, Keady O’Leary, and Phil Harris was referred to before the opening of the Kaicrau Football Club’s meeting last night, and the members of the club expressed their sorrow by standing for a moment in silence.
The visit to New Zealand of the Bisjiop of London, tho Rt. Rev. Dr. Winnington-Ingram, had engendered the hope in Wanganui that he would visit this city. The Ven. Archdeacon Creed Meredith yesterday, however, received a telegram from the Bishop that he would not be able to visit Wanganui.
Mr C. E. K. Alecock, son of Mr J. C. Alecock, of Westmere, has been notified that he has passed in sections A and B of English in the engineering examination. Mr Alecock was for three years a pupil of the Wanganui Technical College, and is now assistant engineer in the Public Works Department at Westport. He has now only one subject to pass in order lo qualify for his A.M.I.C.E. degree.
