WANGANUI AND OLD BOYS REVIEW OF LAST SEASON’S ACTIVITIES. Tho following is the annual report of tho Wanganui and Old Boys Football Club which will be presented at the annual meeting to be held in C. L. Duigan’s rooms at 7.30 to-night:— It gives us very great pleasure in presenting the annual report and balance sheet for tho 1926 season. Membership.—The Club’s membership now stands at 75 active and 18 non-active members, and with new members the forthcoming season will see teams entered for all grades. Finance.—The balance sheet shows a satisfactory credit on the year’s working and the Committee are indebted to all those who have contributed towards tho funds. •Season’s Record.—Four teams were entered for the union competition. The senior team started the season well, and maintained a good position in the Senior competition throughout. Tho loss of several of our best forwards early in the competition weakened tho forwards considerably. The juniors are to be congratulated on their efforts, and also their work in filling vacancies in the senior team. The third grade maintained a good position and are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm displayed during the season. Tho fourths at times had a hard matter to get a full team and were several times unable to fulfil their engagements. Wc trust that this difficulty will be overcome during the pending season. In s»both the senior and junior seven aside tournaments the club’s teams were run-ners-up. Representative Honours.— Senior: Cox, Murie, Bly th, Carlson, Udy, Young and Potaka. Junior: Broad, Smith and Moore. P. Potaka must be congratulated on his inclusion in tho Maori touring team to England and France. Trophies.—The Wakefield Cup, for the best all-round footballer was presented to H. Cox. The Robinson Cup, for tho roost improved player, was awarded to R. Fulton. Insurance Fund.—This fund filled a long felt want amongst footballers in Wanganui, and the persons responsible for the inauguration of this scheme are to be congratulated for the success of their efforts. Metropolitan Rugby Sub-Union.— During tho off-season the great im- 1 provements effected to Spriggens Park will be very beneficial to the players and public and reflects great credit on the officers concerned. Tho training shed arrangements for the season were very satisfactory and all clubs were able to work in together for their practices. The Pirate Football Club are to be congratulated on their success in winning the Senior Championship and their efforts during the season. Outside Matches: Early in the season the senior team journeyed to Palmerston Northland played a friendly match with tho Western United Football Club, whose entertaining was very much appreciated. The club’s team was defeated after a fairly even game, by 12 to 9. It is hoped that a return visit by the Western United Club will eventuate early this season. The club is indebted to the various team coaches for valuable services rendered. We also have to thank the local Press for their readiness at all times to publish matters of interest to the club and football in general. Also the St. John Ambulance Association for their kind attention to all injured players. In conclusion wo extend our very best wishes to all members for the incoming season. Quite a number of new players are offering membership and with the enthusiasm displayed by our younger players, there is good promise of a successful season provided the essential training and practices are given the very necessary attention.

INTERESTING PROPOSAL QUESTION OF AMALGAMATION In the junior competition of the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby SubUnion, two of the best teams are those from the Wangaehu and Fordell clubs. Tho Wangaehu team succeeded in securing junior honours last season. Recognising that much promising football talent is in evidence among players in clubs drawing members from the area north, of the Rangitikei River and south of the Wanganui River, it is felt by a number of enthusiasts that an exceptionally strong club could we formed by tho amalgamation of teams in the area. Tho suggested new club would certainly be a very representative one and would figure prominently in the competitions in Wanganui, if the club does come into existence, it *s extremely probable that a senior grade team will be formed. At the mooting of the Fordell Football Club in tho Fordell School on Saturday at 7.30 p.m., an opportunity will be given, at the close of the general business, to discuss the proposals to consolidate the clubs operating in tho area, with a view to nominating teams for the forthcoming contests. The suggested name for the proposed united club is “Wanganui Country Club. ’ ’ An invitation to be present is extenaed to all interested and to officials and members of the Wangaehu Club. KAIERAU CLUB SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL MEETING Enthusiasm marked the annual meeting of the Kaierau Football Club last night, when Mr J. Moye presided over a large attendance.
