MILKMAN’S MONEY
INCIDENT AT ARAMOHO ASSAULT IN DARK STREET A milkman’s money bag was evidently the booty sought by a footpad waiting in a dark street at Aramoho very early on a recent morning. It was after the bright lights which flood the city and suburbs with luminance had gone out, at what soldiers called “the zero hour,” that the milk vendor was assaulted and overthrown just as ho was coming out of a customer’s gate. The night was very dark, and the victim could not see his assailant, but when ho felt him groping for his money he responded with a vicious blow that crippled tho attacker. Taking advantage of this success, and now scenting blood, the “milk-o” assumed the offensive, with the result that his antagonist fled. While proud of the physical prowess that enabled him to rout the enemy, tho milkman considers that the paths of those who, like himself, have to be abroad between midnight and morning, would be more pleasant if tho city lights were left on all night and not switched off in tho early hours of the morning.
