The Mayor, Mr Hope Gibbons, is at present in Wellington.

Mr W. A. Veitch, MJP., is at present in Wellington on Parliamentary business.

Commander Marsden, R.N., and Mrs Marsden, arc on a brief visit to Wanganui, and are the guests of the Rev. C. F. Pierce.

Mr E. G. Bush, for some time manager of the tyre department of Messrs Hatrick and Co., has been advised of his transfer to Wellington. Mr Bush leaves for the south this week.

Mr and Mrs A. E. Fearnley (Southport, England), Messrs E. A. Allen, L. H. Labone, and Mr and Mrs W. H. Long (Wellington), Mr and Mrs .1. C. Spedding (Auckland) and Mr W. F. Eedgebeer (Sydney) are guests at Foster’s Hotel.

The late Mr W. S. Dustin took a prominent part in civic affairs in Wanganui for a number of years and had been a member of the Wanganui City Council on a number of occasions. At the Council meeting held last evening a vote of sympathy with his relatives was carried.

Messrs E. J. Denys, H. W. Davy (Hawera), L. J. Cantwell (Dunedin), J. Moss, T. T. Skoglund, G. B. Lewis, G. W. Davidson, W. J. Knight (Palmerston North), H. A. Charles (New Plymouth), A. C. Bush, H. Orme, R. Glover-Clark, Mrs U. R. Wilson (Auckland), Mr and Mrs F. C. Barker (Napier) and Mr and Mrs C. F. Mitchell (Wellington) are staying at the Rutland Hotel.

Mr E. W. Seeker, of Palmerston, .author of the famous football song, “On the Ball,” and one of tho oldest residents of the Manawatu, died last week. Mr Seeker was for many years connected with the game, and he captained the West Coast representatives, probably the first representative combination to invade Wellington. In racing circles he was best known for his ownership of Lorelei, afterwards the treble winner of the Manawatu Cup. Mr Seeker’s two sons are well known in Rugby circles, each having represented Manawatu during the past two seasons.
