NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM CONTESTS IN WANGANUI Arrivals in Wanganui yesterday morning from New Plymouth were the New South Wales bowlers, accompanied by their wives, now on a pleasure tour of the North Island. Members of the excutive of the Wanganui Bowling Centre met the tourists. Air J Scott, president of the New South Wales Bowling Association, stated yesterday that the visit was a social one. With the visitors on their tour is Mr Hardley, president of the New Zealand Bowling Association. Very favourable conditions prevailed for yesterday’s matches on the St. John’s Club’s green against the Wanganui representatives, and keen games were witnessed. Results of the various contests are as under (New South Wales players being mentioned first) : Benson, Matthews, Cronam and Scott 25 v. Lightband, Greenwood, Webb and Benefield 15. Anderson, Ellis, Park and Gates 11 v. Falconer, Spratt, Warden and McAneny 20. Hardy, Thacker, Thorn and Witherton 23 v. Hutchens, Park, Duck and Christie 13. Scuttej Fautman, Thorpe and Farmer 21 v. Ingram, Redwood, Jack and Corby 33 Total: Wanganui 81, New South Wales 80. Another game was also played but the visitors did not count it as only three of their own men were in the rink, a Wanganui man making the fourth. Had the game been counted the result would have been a win for the visitors by 8 points. The result was:— Hyland, Walsh, Green (Wanganui), and Parkes 25 v. Price, Coxon, Towers and Scarfe 16. A team of Dominion Bowling Council officials also played against a Wanganui rink with the following result: — Officials: Hardley, AlcMillan, Thompson and Gordon .17 v. Locals: Haywood, Hodson, Foster and F. B. Parkes 15. GONVILLE CLUB ADDITIONAL RESULTS. Additional results of games played by Gonville Club members are as under:— Cornish, Bird. Robinson and Christiansen 20 v. Davies, J. Healey, Karton and Fyffe 14. Lake, Alailman, Morgan and Brass 24 v. AlcKinnon, Afurray, McAfurtri e and Laird 16. In a practice game, McKenzie and Bourne 30 beat Cole and Moutray 17. Games in the championship singles should be completed this week. DUTHIE CUP TRIANGULAR CONTEST Wellington, Hutt, and Wanganui bowling teams meet on the Wanganui green at 9 a.m. this morning in the Duthric Cup contest Tn tho first match Wellington play Hutt. The visiting teams will be entertained at a smoke concert at the Wanganui Club’s pavilion in the evening.
