NEWSPAPER COMBINE
PROPOSAL IN LONDON ENORMOUS CAPITAL STATED. It is rumoured (states a London message) that the biggest newspaper combinel in the world will come into being shortly. Active movements have taken place in the prices of newspaper shares, and for a certain group of ■papers between £12,000,000 and £18,000,000 is mentioned. Meanwhile, Lord Burnham definitely states that there is no truth in the rumour that he is considering an offer for the “Daily Telegraph.” Mr. Cecil Harmsworth, an ex-M.P., and brother of the late Lord Northcliff e, may be the new chairman of the company owning the ‘ 4 Daily Mail, ’ ’ etc. in succession to Mr. Marlowe, who is said, to be going for a trip to South Africa with the novelist, Mr. A. E. W. Mason.
