ROWING
SERVICE ON THE WATER WELLINGTON CLUB’S NEW CAPTAIN. I The new captain of the Wellington I Rowing Club is W. Fraser, an ex-Gis-borne oarsman who was transferred to Wellington and renewed his association with the sport there. Fraser began his rowing career in the Poverty Bay Rowing Club, and proved so adept at the' game that his first year found him among the representative oarsmen. He competed prominently in the local regattas, and had many successes in club eVents, and w'hcn he later went to Wellington he threw in his lot with the Wellington Club, soon ranking as a representative there too. He' was selected in the maiden crew that won the fours and double at the Picton regatta in 1923, and since has been a member of othci gt)od crews. His service to the' Wellington Club has included several years of committee work, and his genial personality has made him one of the most popular figures in the sport.
