CRICKET. ARKWRIGHT SHIELD FINAL. COLTS DEFEAT POREWA. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent). Porewa, who defeated Marton in the first game of the Arkwright Shield, crumpled up badly against Porewa on Saturday. R. Cameron, the Porewa captain, won the toss from T. Lyon and batted first. Porewa scored 73 in their first innings, the scoring being very slow. Colts scored 91, K. Gibbons batting in forceful style, while T. Lyon and A. Taaffe also reached double figures. Porewa, on going to the wickets a second time, found the bowling of Batten and T. Lyon too strong, and were all out for 37. Colts scored the 19 required for victory with the loss of one wicket, thus winning the Arkwright Shield for the 1926-27 season. Following are the detailed scores:— Porewa. First Innings. B.
