ELKRIDGE EN ROUTE. Cabled advice has been received that the Elkridge, also from Pacific Coast ports, was , dispatched from San Pedro on December IS , for Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton and Dun- ’ edin. She is due at Auckland on January 12. ‘ KURANDA AND CARINA SOLD. The A.U.S.N. Co’s passenger steamer Ku- i randa is now at Brisbane. She was with- I drawn frnm the Queensland coastal service owing to the falling-off in the passenger traf- j fic. and has since been laid up. A steel twinscrew steamer of 953 tons gross and 550 tons net, she was built at Dundee in 1901. The vessel is reported to have realised £BOO3. Confirmation of the reported sale of the Clarina by the Australian Commonwealth Shipping Board has been received at Sydney. The name of the buyers was not stated. The Carina has been idle in Sydney for over five months. She is the former German vessel Griefswald, and was built at Vegesack in 1907. Her gross tonnage is 5486. CARINTHIA’S WORLD CRUISE. In the course of her world cruise, the Canard liner Carinthia (20.227 tons), arrived at. Auckland on December 26. The Carinthia commenced her cruise from New York on October 14, having 311 tourists on hoard. She made her first call at Havanna. and after leaving there on Octobe 18 encountered the hurricane which swept tne Cuban port with such disastrous effects. During the storm, when the velocity of the wind attained a force of 90 miles an hour, the ship was hoveto with the wind on her bow. After ten hours the conditions moderated and the ship was able to resume her cruise. She next called at Colon, San Pedro. San Francisco. Hiro. Honolulu. Yokohama. Kobe. Chemulpo •Korea). Ching-wang-tao. Hongkong, Manila. /Zamboanga and Port Moresby, before coming to Auckland.
