NEW ZEALANDERS IN FORM A GOOD WIN. LONDON, Dec. 27. The New Zealand League team beat Broughton Rangers by 32 points (8 tries, 4 converted) to 8 (two tries and a penalty goal. Play opened scrap pily, the New Zealanders experiencing difficulty in combatting Broughton’s vigorous forward rushes. Broughton opened the scoring, Bevan placing a penalty goal. Twice later the home team almost crossed the New Zealanders’ line. Then the visitors attacked strongly with a magnificent bout of passing, the ball travelling three-quarters of the length of the field. Gardiner and Brisbane were prominent. Then the ball went in to Avery, who crossed. Delgrosso failed to convert. Lomas then scored an unconverted try for Broughton and immediately before the interval Dufty broke away and sent in Avery, Dufty goaling, leaving New Zealand leading by 8 points to 5 at half-time. In the second half a Broughton player, Merriman, was absent owing to an injury. The New Zealanders gave a vastly improved display and were superior in all departments. Brown, Kirwan and Avery scored tries in ohe first quarter of an hour, Dufty converting the last. From then on the visitors by thenr brilliant handling and speed nonplussed the home players. Thrice they' penetrated the defence, but the final passes were knocked on. Mason scored a try, Dufty converting. Avery continued to be the outstanding player and scored two further tries, one of which Dufty converted. Condrcu, for Broughton Rangers, reduced the load by scoring a try, and the game concluded with the scores: New Zealand 32 Broughton Rangers 8 Hall and Delgrosso played excellently behind the scrum. Brisbane and Kirwan were brilliant centres. The New Zealand team was: Dufty, Brown. Kirwan, Brisbane. Gardiner, Hall, Delgrosso. Menzies, Parkes, Herring, Thomas, Mason and Avery.
