DEAD IN CELL
INQUEST ON ELDERLY MAN APOPLEXY THE CAUSE. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, Dec. 27. On Christmas Eve an elderly man. John Kennedy, was arrested and placed in a cell in the Taranaki Street station on a charge of drunkenness. When he was visited at an early hour next morning he was found to bo dead. At. the inquest to-day, Dr. Lynch said that it was not likely that deceased had had a great deal of liquor. Death was due to apoplexy. Deceased’s appearance would simulate that of a deeply intoxicated man. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.
