DOMINION TOURNAMENT OPENING POSTPONED TILL TO-DAY. (Per Press Ainoefatiofl.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 27. Owing to trouble with the drainage at the Stanley Street courts they were under water this morning, and there was no option but to postpone the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Championships until to-morrow, when the openinggames will be:—Wallace v. Clark; Peacock v. Sturt; Robinson v. Bundle; Brinsden v. Haegc (Victoria); Seay v. Malfroy; Entwistle v. McCracken; Ohlson v. McCausland (N.S.W.); Wright v. Tait; Bell v. N. Peach (N.S.W.). FRIENDLY MATCHED ST. JOHN’S PLAYERS AT WAVERLEY Members of St. John’s Tennis Club went to Waverley on Saturday as guests of the country club. The weather was fine and the courts in excellent order, and a pleasant day was spent. No singles games were played, and every game was won by the visitors, though some were well contested. At the conclusion of play Mr W. E. Billowes expressed the thanks of the visitors for the hospitality accorded them, and said he. hoped similar visits would occur more frequently in the future. Mr A. Sherburne, for the Waverley Club said they hoped to return the visit before long. WANGANUI CEfTFRE ANNUAL RINK TOUF.NEY The annual rinks tourney held under the auspices of the Wanganui Bowling Centre will take place on the Wanganui and St. John's greens to-day, tomorrow and Thursday. The tourney will be the fourteenth run by the centre, and excellent entries liavc been received. Thirty-two rinks have entered and teams will be pr-csißit from Rapanui, Lyall Bay, Ohakune, Island Bay, Eitzroy, Paritutu and New Plymouth. A number of ex-champions are competing, including A. B. Duff, skip of the Island Bay rink which was successful in the tournament last year.

Competitors are reminded that all bowls must be on the mat at 8.55 a.m. to-day, and games will commence sharp at 9 o’clock. The luncheon adjournment will be taken from, 12.30 p.m. tiff 1.30 p.m. The A and B sections will play on the Wanganui green and C section on St. John’s green.
