SCHOOL PRIZEGIVINGS. BULLS SCHOOL. (From the “Chronicle’s’’ Special Correspondent). The annual prize-giving of the. Bulls School was held in the Town Hall on Friday afternoon before a large attendance of parents. The prizes were distributed by the Rev. H. Jones, chairman of the School Committee. Afternoon tea was afterwards handed round. The following is the detailed prize list:— Standard Vl.—John McConachy 1, Ellen Young 2, Indra Walker 3. Sewing: Ellen Young. Cooking: Ellen Young, Madge Murray. Woodwork: Henry Edwards (senior), Leslie Ransom (junior). There was a largo gathering of parents at the prize-giving ceremony of tho Parewanui School, when Mr A. Yardley (chairman of the School Committee) distributed the prizes and he' and Mr M. Munro (teacher) reported on the work of the school. Mr. Munro stated that ho' had to record steady progress and no pupils had failed to obtain promotion; indeed, one had passed through two standards during the year, obtaining a proficiency certificate. After the ceremony the children and visitors were provided with refreshments. OHAKEA SCHOOL. The annual picnic and prize-giving ot the Ohakea School was held in Mr Masters’ paddock on Friday. The chairman, Mr B. Anderson, thanked Mr Masters for the use of his paddock, and the teachers and children gave Miss Bailey a pre'sent for her valuable assistance in school matters. F. i Christmas Tree, it was a huge success. ; Each child had a dip in the bran tub I and a present from the Christmas Tree, together with sweets and ice' cream. I Messrs. Joe Ellery and E. Robbie successfully acted as Father Christmas in turn and kept things going with games and competitions. The song competitions were' won Joan Mansell and Master Forbes. In the apple-eating competition, which caused much hilarity, Roy Ellery and Forbes dead-heated. “Tailing-the-pig’’ was a fount of amusement and the prizes were competed for in different classes, Zelma McGregor winning the children’s section and Ena McGregor and Mr. C.
