ROTARY TWINS LEADING

IN PLUNKET BABY CONTEST OPENING WEEK SHOWS GOOD RESULTS. The first counting of votes in the. Plunket Society Baby Competition shows the position of the various candidates to bo as follows: — Rotary twins 5058 Baby Smith (Aramoho) . .. 4878 Baby Russell kind Baby Grieve (St. John's Hill) 4569 Baby Hatrick (Belmont Ladies’ Golf Club) .. .. 3684 Baby Jones and Baby Horsley (Wanganui East) .. 3460 Baby Rowe (Durie Hill) .. 1720 Baby Dratfin (CastlecliffGonvillc) 0 Very great interest is being shown in the competition, las was evidenced by the crowds that collected outside Purser’s Limited yesterday, where the results are shown on a huge barometer in the window, with the photograph of each candidate. The next count of votes will take place on Thursday. The results for the first week of the competition are very satisfactory to the promoters, over £9O being realised. As the funds are in aid of the Plunket Society’s maintenance fund, the continued" support of the public may safely be expected, and as la result of the competition the Plunket Society will be placed in a very good financial position. All the districts have not got properly into their stride yet, as is indicated in the table, but all are busy organising, and when the contest is b. little older, the competition will no doubt become much keener.
