PLUNKET CARNIVAL
BABY CANDIDATE CONTEST. SELECTION OP ST. JOHN’S HILL CANDIDATE. A me'eting was held on Friday to select a candidate for the forthcoming baby contest for the purpose of raising money on behalf of the work of the Plunket Society. Mrs Crawford, president of the Society, presided and explained that the Baby Contest was taking the place of the usual annual appeal for funds. A committee was formed to carryout the work consisting of Mesdames Latham, Russell Stevenson, McDougall. H. Russell, Grieve, Taiboys, Blythe, the Misses Jordon, Fraser, Stanford, Wood. Mrs Tomkies was elected secretary. It was decided to select two babies, a. boy and a girl, to act as a conjoint candidate, Babies Brenda Margaret Grieve, three months, and McKelvie Russell, one year and seven months being the successful ones.
