DISTANCE ROAD RACE PALMERSTON TO PETONE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 26. A decision has been made by amateur cycling enthusiasts to hold a cycle road race from Palmerston North to Petone on September 11. It is like ly that the competitor registering the fastest time will be sent to compete in the Melbourne race. SATURDAY’S ROAD RACE The ten mile road race held on Saturday resulted in a win for R. White by three lengths from L. Smith, with C. Leonard third, and R. Macey fourth. A flock of sheep spoilt tho finish, six men finishing in a bunch. R. Davis secured fastest time, 21min., and L. Moles second fastest. Moles has entered a protest, which will bo considered on Wednesday night. The winner took 24min. 30sec, the second main 24min. 40sec., and the third man 24min. 35sec.
