A NEW SCHOOL

FOR LOWER HUTT OPENED BY MINISTER OF EDUCATION [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, June 27. On Saturday afternoon the Minister of Education, the Hon. A. R. Wright, performed the official ceremony in connection with the opening of the Hutt Valley High School at Lower Hutt. The Minister congratulated the district upon having such a fine school, which would serve the requirements of a very large area. The school was erected at a cost of £12,000, and the hand was bought for £6OOO some years back, and is considered to have doubled in value since then. The building is considered to be of modern design in respect to lighting, ventilation and comfort, and consists of nine rooms. On the roll are 163 pupils. Playing areas arc to be provided, and in the meantime the recreation grounds are being used. Other speakers were Mr J. Caughley, Director of Education, and Mr W. T. Strand, Mayor of Lower Hutt.
