Senior.—Hui Alai 19 v. Awahuri 3; Central 13 v. United 8. Junior.—Hui Mai 9 v. Awahuri 6; Central 15 v. United 3. The Hui Mai seniors got away with a very weak team, but were able to 1 hold off the Awahuri representatives ! and scored a comfortaolc win. 1 The junior game Hui Mai v. Awahuri provided a fair number of spectators with a hard fought, even contest. The lighter Hui Mai pack stuck to their ; task and scored a well earned victory. : The play was not up to standard, far too many free kicks being given away by both teams, and the scores could easily have been more on both sides if the chances had been availed of. The game had not been long in progress when the blue pack (Hui Mai) took play into the rod twenty-five and from a penalty J. Fagan sent the ball over the bar. Reds again set up a strong ' attack and weak taking by the blue full-back nearly ended in the score being equalised. Blue then carried play into red quarters and an attempt at goal from a penalty just missed. Red ••ame down field again and a free kick lost some of the ground. A blue rush headed by Job Harris ended in L. Bowater scoring at the corner. J. Fagan’s kick was a good one, the ball; falling just under the cross bar. Reds I were not to be denied and. brought play i into blue twenty-five, a free kick giv- ■ ing them a chance, but the ball fell . j short. Another penalty and Wilson i Cribb was successful. Play went up and i down field, Cribb having another shot, ! but with no result. Half-time sounded with play in mid-field. The second spell started with a blue rush and L. Bowater just missed a score, a force down gviing relief. Even play follow ed and the rods, opening up the play, kept the blue backs busy, but the tackling was sound. Blue took play into the red half and from a loos» scrum about the twenty-five line th* ball was handed on to Edgar Ingram A smart run ended with a score at th* corner. The kick failed. Reds agair took play back and the blue full with a weak kick, which rebounded, gave Payne a chance to score an easy try. j at the corner. The kick missed. Reds i

tried hard to even up the score and a penalty in an easy position gave them a chance, but the kick was a poor one. Blue took play down field again only to be driven back by the reds, who were now being cheered bn by a small army of noisy but it was of no avail and no side sounded in the blue twenty-five. Mr Stan. Peeve was referee.
