The other characterisation is of Joyce’s mother, first as Nadine Gathway, the lovely wife who deserts a boresomc middle-aged millionaire in search of romance, and in the latter pare of the story as the Countesde Tauro, -wedded happily to a French nobleman,} twenty years after deserting her millionaire husband. Allan Dwan, Paramount’s noted producer-director said that Aliss Swanson has accomplished the most finished performance of her career in the new picture; that she assumed the different roles with remarkable smoothness and conviction. It required long hours of thought, study and work to present each character in its genuine mood. Prominent in the strong supporting cast are Anthony Jowitt, new screen “find,” -who has the leading man’s role opposite Aliss Swanson; Alec Francis, Lawrence Gray, Arthur Hausman, Dorothy Cumming, Jed Prouty and Eugenic Besscrer. A. strong supporting programme will also bo screened. CONCERT AT WESTMERE. EXCEPTIONAL PROGRAAIME. Great preparations have been made for the concert to be given in the AVestmere Hall to-morrow night. A fine programme has been arranged by the Wanganui Lyric Quartette, assisted by Air Trevor Thomas, Airs T. L. Sperring, Aliss Doris Symes, and star performers from Air Bailey’s school of acting. The items are full of mirth, smart, snappy, and most entertaining, so that two hours of wholesome enjoyment is guaranteed.
