UNITED FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
MEETING OF COUNCIL. A meeting of the council of the Wanganui Vnited Friendly Societies‘’was held in the board room on Friday evening. Brother G. Larkin presiding. A deputation waited upon the council ask- ! ing them to unite with two other societies to formulate a larger prize art union, and to share equally in the pro- ’ coeds of same. A long discussion took place upon joining forces with the i other societies, with the result that a [unanimous vote was passed that the i Friondiv Societies’ Council run their ■ own art union, and to proceed at once i with same. The secretary reported 'that the guarantors were willing to [ sign the guarantee and that the bank i was in negotiation for the purchase of l the alluvia! gold. The organisers were I instructed to write to the Alinister of I Internal Affairs for the necessary license for running the art union.
