BREATHING SPACE
FOR BRIAND GOVERNMENT new financial projects PLANNED. TO BE PRESENTED WITHIN A MONTH. Received June 2, 8.35 p.m. PARIS, June 1. The Chamber’s vote of confidence by 313 votes to 147 has given the Government breathing space to continue the defence of the franc. Arising from the Socialist demand for an immediate financial debate, M. Briand declared that a debate at present would be inopportune. The Government would submit its financial projects within a month. If the Government had not a sufficient majority it would resign.
