OUTLOOK MORE HOPEFUL NEGOTIATIONS FOR SETTLEMENT REASON PREVAILS IN CANTON HONGKONG, Mai-ch 28. The Governor, addressing the Chamber of Commerce, announced that tho Canton Government was now' prepared to appoint three members to negotiate with three officials for a settlement of the boycott. The Governor agreed to the proposal and hoped that the negotiations would lead to an honourable and lasting settlement. He added that it seemed that sano commonsense Cantonese people were at; last, beating down Communism and establishing law and order. He. regarded the outlook as more hopeful than at any time since June.
